The grand finale of the first miss peace pageant took place on Saturday 25th September 2010 at the Ladi Kwali Hall Sheraton Abuja where the first ever Miss Peace Nigeria was crowned in the person of Ifeyinwa Duru and she's to reign for one year.
The queen took home the took home a brand new kia Rio, one million naira and a return trip to South Africa. The first runner up was Abiemwense Osazemwindi who won a cash prize of 500 thousand naira, a 42 inche LCD TV and a return trip to South Africa. The second runner up Mutorayo Raheem took home a cash prize of 250 thousand naira and a refrigerator while the rest of the other contestants walked away with DVD player consolation prizes. The crown of miss photogenic was decided by the audience and the winner took home a prize of water dispenser.
Green carpet started by 5 pm and was anchored by Chris of cool FM Abuja and Amaka of Hot FM Abuja. Dare Art Alade was outstanding as the compere of the event and there was great performances by comedians Big Mouth and Fred Bright, singers Mos B, Ash, Meya and Mr Capable; Banky W himself who came with “Lagos party” to thief “my kele” and finally did “strong thing” to everybody. The event came to an exciting end by 1am and after event party followed at Aqua Lounge, Sheraton.
20 girls moved into camp but only 16 made it to the finals as 4 girls had to be eliminated. 7amtainment spoke to Niki one of the eliminated girls and she said getting eliminated was good for her.
“the thing is that I came late to camp because I had things to finish in school and on my way I had a minor accident so I was going through some pains at the camp and the camp managers advised me to withdraw which I did I believe that was the best decision. This is not my first attempt at pageant but this was the best camp experience I ever had so I’ll just go home and prepare for next year’s edition. The winner is my good friend and I’m happy for her”
Jumai Buba and she said participating has really encouraged her.
“Because of my slim figure people have been encouraging me to go for pageant or modeling, though I didn’t win but the whole experience has really encouraged me to think seriously about going into modeling”
Lia from USA, Florence Ozuanu, Hon. Abas Braimah (house of Reps), Fernando Enriques Arundell (Venezuelan Ambassador to Nigeria) and Fiona Amuzie (Most Beautiful Girl Nigeria 2010) were the judges that night.
